DSI Faculty Member, Nicole Ellison, was recently quoted in a TIME magazine article titled: “The Internet’s New Favorite Insult: ‘Did AI Write That?’” The article details the dehumanizing sting that comes with accusations of AI usage and the lengths people will go to avoid trademark AI sentence structures, even inserting errors to seem more “human.”
In the article, Ellison comments on the irony of purposefully adding typos within dating profiles to seem more authentic. “They would see [typos] as a signal that either this person is uneducated, or that they don't care," she says. “Now we’ve kind of come full circle, where a typo maybe signals that you actually do care, because you took the time to write it yourself.”
