Shinobu Kitayama receives the 2022 American Psychological Association Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award
Shinobu Kitayama is the director of the U-M Center for Japanese Studies, a Robert B. Zajonc Collegiate Professor of Psychology, and the director of the Culture & Cognition Program. His research revolves around cultural differences and similarities in a variety of mental processes such as self, emotion, and cognition. He focuses on comparative research on people from Asian countries—such as Japan, the Philippines, and China—with Americans.
