Advising

Student progress is assessed at the end of the first and third semesters by the program director in consultation with each student’s advisor on the basis of transcript reviews and informal conversations with the student. At the end of the senior year, students  meet formally with their advisors to discuss their progress and plan the final year of study. The program committee reviews brief reports provided by the advisors to discuss student progress and ensure that realistic plans are in place for completion of the master’s degree requirements in the fifth year. A formal letter assessing the student’s progress to the master’s degree will be provided to the student at this time. At the end of the final year, the advisor and one additional faculty member, appointed by the director, evaluate and approve the capstone projects.
