Graduate Student Instructor
About
Welcome everyone! My name is Wolfgang Bahr (he/him), and I am excited to be one of your Graduate Student Instructors for ALA 210. Currently, I am pursuing dual master's degrees in Social Work, focusing on Global Social Work Practice, and Public Health, specializing in Health Behavior and Health Education.
I grew up between Luperón and Santiago in the Dominican Republic, experiencing life in both a rural setting and a bustling city. This unique upbringing deeply influenced my perspectives and interests. Before coming to the University of Michigan, I studied Medical Anthropology at the University of Florida, graduating in 2021. Following my graduation, I took a gap year to work with AmeriCorps as a Community Health Worker, primarily assisting Latinx patients in Washtenaw County. This experience solidified my desire to pursue graduate studies and further engage in global health and social work.
As your Graduate Student Instructor, I am most excited to engage in meaningful dialogue and discussions with all of you. I believe that through open conversation and sharing diverse perspectives, we can create a rich and supportive learning environment.
Outside of GSP, you can often find me on nature walks with my dog, Simba, or nose-deep in my book of the week. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you. Let's make this a fantastic year of learning and growth!"
