While in China, Professor Nornes gave a lecture at the Beijing Film Academy, followed by a research trip to Jia Zhangke's Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Film Festival. At the West Lake Film Festival in Hangzhou, he showed The Big House with FTVM's visiting professor alumnus Soda Kazuhiro.

Finally, at West Lake, he also spoke at two roundtable discussions.
