Emma Beachy is a PhD candidate in historical musicology at the University of Michigan, where she researches US popular music from 1950-present with a focus on fandom, reception, and digital media. Her dissertation project analyzes the relationship between musical sound and conspiracy theory on social media. Her work has been published in the Journal of Mennonite Studies and the Journal of Jazz Studies. In her free time, she enjoys baking, playing piano, and getting lost in a good sci-fi novel.
