Basak Candar successfully defended her dissertation, entitled "Representing Censored Pasts: State Violence in Twentieth Century Turkish and Spanish Literature." Her committee was co-chared by Cristina Moreiras-Menor and Kader Konuk, with additional support by Gottfried Hagen and Anton Shammas.

Basak will assume a post-doc before beginning her tenure track professor position at Appalachian State.
