CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR COMP LIT FACULTY!

Professor Catherine Brown received a 2010 Michigan Humanities Award to pursue research on the early Middle Ages, entitled “In the Middle.”

Professor Alina Clej received a 2009 Fulbright Fellowship in Romania, to pursue research for “Romanians in Paris: A Study in Displacement and Creativity."

Professor Basil Dufallo received a fellowship at the Michigan Institute for the Humanities for 2010-2011, to pursue research for "The Captor's Image: Greek Art in Roman Ekphrasis.

Professor David Halperin was named W. H. Auden Distinguished University Professor of the History and Theory of Sexuality at the University of Michigan. Professor Halperin also received the James Robert Brudner ’83 Prize for LGBT Studies and Activism from Yale University for 2011. The collection Gay Shame, which he edited with Valerie Traub, was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award in 2011.

Professor Tomoko Masuzawa received a fellowship at the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study for 2010-2011, to pursue research for “The Promise of the Secular: William Robertson Smith and the Historical Constitution of Biblical Studies.” She also received a 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship.

Professor Anton Shammas received a fellowship at the Michigan Institute for the Humanities for 2010-2011, to write “BLIND SPOTS and other essays on translation.”

Professor Ruth Tsoffar received a fellowship at the Frankel Institute for Advanced Judaic Studies for 2010-2011, to pursue research for “Cannibal Ideology: Sexuality, Ethnicity, and Colonialism in Hebrew Cultures.”
