Nigel Poor is a San Francisco-based artist and photographer. From otherworldly landscapes comprised of decaying fruits and flowers to an archive of found objects, Nigel Poor’s photographs reveal the subtexts of time and collective history in inanimate objects. She has had major solo exhibitions in galleries such as the Institute of Contemporary Art, San Jose, California, and her work is represented in several collections, including the Polaroid Corporation International Collection, and that of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Christi Merrill is associate professor of South Asian literature and postcolonial theory, Asian languages and cultures and comparative literature; and associate chair, Center for South Asian Studies.
This event is co-sponsored by the Institute for the Humanities and the Translation Theme Semester.
