About
Samantha is an undergraduate student researching a parasitic fungi from the order Laboulbeniales present on blood-feeding bat flies which are themselves obligate ectoparasites of bats. She is interested in understanding the fungal phylogenetic relationships in bat flies and their host bat species that have never had their fungal parasites studied before. In summer 2023, Samantha assisted with data analysis on a project phylogenetically analyzing the bacterial microbiome of cuban frogs.
