I will present recent work on several aspects of flavor physics, motivated by suggestive patterns in high-precision data. First, I will discuss CKM unitarity constraints, focusing on the angles of the unitarity triangle and on intriguing hints of spontaneous CP violation. Then, I will argue that Standard Model running of the Yukawa couplings points to quark–lepton unification at a surprisingly low scale. Simple Pati–Salam theories of flavor can realize this for all three generations, with predictions within reach of upcoming searches for charged-lepton flavor violation.
