EEB Tuesday Seminar Series - Hetero-chaos in a Community of Ants in Puerto Rico
John Vandermeer, Asa Gray Distinguished University Professor of EEB, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor
Summary: In Puerto Rico, on a coffee farm, an intransitive triplet of ant species is modified by a specialist predator on one of them to form a chaotic trajectory that is arguably a heterochaotic pattern. The heterochaos is explained by the underlying biology of the system.
