Starting in Fall 2013, Contexts for Classics is affiliated with the Institute for the Humanities at the University of Michigan. Co-sponsors include the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, the Department of Classical Studies, the Department of Comparative Literature, and the Program in Modern Greek.
Contexts for Classics also benefits from numerous partnerships with units across the University.
Classical Studies Department
The Department of Classical Studies offers four programs within Classical Studies but also co-sponsors programs in Classical Art & Archaeology and Greek & Roman History.
Comparative Literature Department
In existence since 1937, the Department of Comparative Literature is one of the oldest and best established centers for the study of comparative literature in the country. The interests of our faculty and students encompass the most innovative areas of study in the humanities today.

The Modern Greek Program offers courses, comprehensive study programs, special events as well as database collections.
English Language & Literature Department
The English Department at Michigan focus on literary theory, examining strategies of literary interpretation, evaluation, and appreciation and considering the ways in which literary texts relate to other forms of cultural representation.

The Germanic Languages Department offers German Studies, Dutch and Flemish Studies, and Scandinavian Studies.

With nearly 80 faculty, the History Department represents a broad range of specialties in both geographical and topical fields, and readily encourage students to make new connections among fields and subfields.

Kelsey Museum of Archaeology
The Kelsey Museum houses a collection of nearly 100,000 ancient and medieval objects from the civilizations of the Mediterranean and the Near East.
