Irina Lyan is a PhD student in the department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her thesis deals with the cross-cultural meetings in international alliances between Israeli and Korean companies. Her other interests of study are the Korean Wave and the Korean community in Israel. Besides academic studies Irina is an activist in promoting Korean culture in Israel by being the head of Korean desk at the iAsia.co.il news portal, by creating a collaborative network with other Korean scholars in Israel, and by writing articles on Korean society and organizing cultural events.
