Xiang Yun earned her B.A. and M.A. in History at the National University of Singapore, where she found a passion for writing stories and discovering new ways to rethink old narratives. Her previous research has examined Chinese Buddhist wartime diplomacy and Buddhist reform in the first half of the twentieth century. Broadly, her interests lie in the intersection of overseas Chinese and modern Chinese history, religion, and gender. In ALC, she hopes to dive deeper into the gendered and religious lives of overseas Chinese societies in multiethnic and multireligious Southeast Asia. Her work has been published in the Journal of Chinese Religions.
