Adelina received a B.A. in Foreign Language and Literature (English and Korean) from the University of Bucharest. Following this, she spent three and a half years in South Korea, as a Korean Government Scholarship Program grantee, where she obtained her M.A. in modern Korean literature from Seoul National University. During her master's studies, Adelina engaged in interdisciplinary research focused on the May 18th Democratic Uprising in Kwangju, South Korea. This experience inspired her to pursue a comparative study for her dissertation, where she intends to expand on the topic of censorship and resistance in South Korea and Romania in the decades preceding democratization.
Adelina chose the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan because of its commitment to interdisciplinary studies, which will allow her to gain a deeper understanding of the socio-historical context of post-Yusin South Korea and its influence on the media and cultural production.
