4:00 AM
3512 Haven Hall / 3222 Angell Hall

11:30 am - Graduate Student Workshop on "Geophilosophy" - 3512 Haven Hall

The workshop will touch upon geophilosophy as method/practice for approaching the elements and phenomena of thought as grounded in the ever fluid relationship between territory and earth. Can geophilosophy help us engage the materiality of social, political, ecological, economic, spatial and microcosmic processes? How? The readings for the workshop are two essays by Gilles Deleuze and FĂ©lix Guattari: "Geophilosophy" and "1933: Micropolitics and Segmentarity." (Lunch will be served)

2:00pm - Deleuze and Social Movements: Affect, State Theory, and the Politics of Confusion - 3222 Angell Hall

Keith Woodward complicates and challenges the notion of a unified state using policing strategies during the Spring 2011 Occupation of the Wisconsin State Capitol Building as a lens.
