The UMMZ Bird Division’s extensive skeletal collections are helping researchers harness AI to study bird anatomy at an unprecedented scale. Using Skelevision, researchers measured 12 skeletal elements across more than 14,000 individual specimens representing more than 2,000 bird species, mostly from UMMZ collections.
