In its efforts to enhance public safety in some of the County’s most challenged neighborhoods, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has sought to expand community outreach programs that offer positive activities for youth beyond sports. At the invitation of the Telling It Program, Sheriff Jerry Clayton attended a few celebrations at local agencies where youth showcased their work. Witnessing the program’s value first-hand, the Sheriff sought funding to bring Telling It directly to neighborhoods in Scio Township, Ypsilanti, and Willow Run.
