About
Hi! My name is Tate, and I'm a Linguistics Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. My areas of focus include syntax, multilingualism, and language revitalization and documentation. Specifically, I am interested in studying underdocumented languages and their applications and implications for current syntactic theories.
For several years, I have worked in college access and educational equity. I firmly believe that educational equity isn't just about who is taught, but also what is taught. As such, my goal is to become a professor to continue research on understudied languages and to incorporate unique ideas and perspectives into what I teach.
