About
Rudolf Mrázek studied at Charles University in Prague and Cornell University. He has published in Indonesian and intellectual history of the twentieth century. Most recently he has been interested in (counter)revolution and biography. After retirement in 2013, he published two last books and is now in the middle of the third. His wife Jana, a historian of twentieth century Italy, lives with him in Ann Arbor. They have two sons: Ondfrej is a journalist and musician in Prague, and Jan is professor and musician at the National University of Singapore.
He will use the EIHS support to work on the Indonesian version of his “Amir Sjarifoeddin: Politics and Truth in Indonesia, 1907- 1948” (Cornell in 2024), to be published in Jakarta in 2005, and to finish a companion biography “Passing of Indonesian Revolution, 1907-1997,” to be published in 2026.
