Providing equitable access for all individuals to enter into careers in the sciences has been a difficult challenge to overcome throughout history. Challenge 9 “Skills, knowledge, and technology for all” of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, or ‘Ocean Decade’, stands as a commitment to ensure development and equitable access to resources across all areas of ocean science.

EARTH Professor Brian Arbic, along with Senior Lecturer of Marine Geochemistry at the University of Ghana, Edem Mahu, leads Working Group 9, a group of individuals looking to tackle Ocean Decade’s Challenge 9.
