Daniel Little was chancellor of UM-Dearborn from 2000 to 2018, where he is also a professor of philosophy. He is a professor of sociology at UM-Ann Arbor with a courtesy appointment at the Ford School and research appointments in the Center for Chinese Studies, ICPSR, and the Center for Complex Systems. Little received his undergraduate degrees in mathematics and philosophy from University of Illinois in 1971 and his PhD in philosophy from Harvard University in 1977. He has written and lectured extensively on the foundations of the social sciences. His most recent book, New Directions in the Philosophy of Social Science (Rowman & Littlefield), was published in 2016.
