Meet Our Peer Advisors ...

Hello! My name is Alex, and I am a junior in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity (EEB) and Program in the Environment, with a minor geospatial science. I have done research through the U-M Water Center on inland lake water quality in South-centeral Michigan, and am currently involved with Epsilon Eta, the Environmental Consulting Organization at U-m, and the Graham Sustainability Institute. During the summer of 2026 I interned with the National Park Service under the aquatic biologist at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. In my free time I love to go on nature walks, plan and host events, and listen to music! Stop by to chat with me about academic planning, anything EEB, or how to get involved in the community outside of class!

Hi! My name is Tiare, and I'm a senior majoringin Neuroscienceon the MD/Phd Track. I conduct neurodegenerative disease research in the Srinivasan Lab an dwork as an EMT with Huron Valley Ambulance. On campus, I'm in volved in DEM (the pre-health fraternity), volunteer in the University Hospital PACU, and participate in the UM-INSPIRE physician-scientist mentor program. Outside of school, I love boxing, painting, reading playing guitar, singing and volunteering in teh community. One thing that's really important to me is mentoring other studtents! I had to figure out much of my own path, which taught me a lot about navigating the opportunities available at Michigan. Whether you're exploring healthcare careers, looking for research or clinical opportunities, applying to summer programs, planning  your classes, or getting involved on campus, please stop by my advising hour if you have any questions or want to chat about your goals.

Hi!  My name is Ava, and I am a junior majoring in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB), with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I'm on the pre-med track and currently work in the Edwards Lab! Outside of classes, I'm on the e-boards for KGrams and Community Cares, and am a member of many more :) I spend my down time reading, cooking and baking, and crafting with my friends. Come say hi if you want to chat about your academic path, having a minor, getting involved in research, being a pre-med, or anything else!

Hi! My name is Juhi, and I am a junior majoring in Biology, Health, and Society (BHS) with a minor in Sociology of Health and Medicine. I am currently conducting research in the Barnett Lab at Michigan Medicine, where I am working toward an honors thesis. Outside of academics, I work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and volunteer with both Michigan Medicine and The Education Project. I am currently studying for the MCAT and plan to apply to medical school within the next two years. In my free time, I enjoy running, shopping, and spending time with friends. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the BHS major, getting involved in research or extracurriculars, or navigating the pre-med track. I'd be happy to chat!

Tutoring Referral

The Program in Biology complies a list of possible tutors for our Program in Biology (all majors) undergraduate classes each semester.  If you did well (B or better) in a Biology, EEB, or MCDB (or other major-related) course and feel like you would make a good tutor, please let us know!  Many beginning (and continuing) students may benefit from your expertise.

We will compile a list and refer students to you as they request tutors.  (You will be able to make arrangements directly with them.)  Your information will not be published widely, but we will give the contact list to students who request a tutor for a course you have signed up for.

Students looking for Tutors:  Check in with the Program in Biology office (lsa-biology-advising@umich.edu) for a list of possible tutors!

PLEASE BE AWARE:  Tutors are not employees of the Program in Biology or the departments of EEB or MCDB. The Biology Office does not monitor the tutoring relationship.  Qualifications, scheduling, and remuneration (if any) should be negotiated in advance between the student and the tutor.
