About
Isidro Landa, PhD (pronouns: he/they) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the University of Michigan's Department of Psychology and is a Program Director at the Research for Indigenous Social Action and Equity Center (RISE). Isidro earned a BA and MA in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach and a PhD in Social and Personality Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis.
He is interested in both basic and applied research centered broadly on culture, identity, emotion regulation, and social equity. Prior work includes investigating the role of person-environment fit in dynamic emotion, social, and identity processes and overall implications for psychological well-being and academic performance, with a focus on marginalized groups (e.g., first-generation college students, underrepresented ethnic groups in STEM education).
Isidro has experience with mixed research methods and data analysis primarily in R & SPSS - survey design (e.g., daily diaries, experience sampling), longitudinal and time-series data analysis (MLM, time-lagged analysis), psychometric techniques (e.g., exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis), and in qualitative data analysis (e.g., focus groups/Interviews).
In his current work at RISE, Isidro focuses on how we can improve mentorship for and representation of Indigenous scholars in higher education.
