Michael Thompson-Brusstar

Mike is a doctoral candidate interested in Chinese politics, authoritarian regimes, and bureaucratic politics. In research, Mike applies qualitative case comparisons, text-as-data analyses, and observational causal inference methods to analyze the development and efficacy of legal-administrative systems for bureaucratic control in the PRC and Taiwan. For this work, he has conducted archival field research in Hong Kong (2018) and in Taiwan as a Fulbright Fellow (2021).
