The Science

C-BRC would like to share with you a couple of items that go to some of the science and thinking behind our “building a community of respect & appreciation” approach. Below are a handful of slides from a UM CRLT and UM Organizational Learning training session some of us attended that built from the NASEM (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, & Medicine) 2018 Consensus Study Report on Sexual Harassment of Women. The core idea is that, rather than a report-investigate-prosecute model alone, which has several very problematic inefficacies, the focus could better lie on creating communities resistant to, instead of their more-usual current state of permissive of, harassment. Below is a selection of the slides from that presentation that most expressly relay that theme, and also a single-page “flyer” on 8 ‘levers’ for affecting this climate.
