PATHWAY
Initiating Change Through Cross-Sector Collaboration
My pathway will prepare me to positively impact the communities I am part of through the nonprofit sector. It will also encourage me to engage in effective leadership to successfully direct a nonprofit organization and formulate a measurable mission. In particular, I will use the various perspectives about entrepreneurial problem solving offered in the Organizational Studies major to work within a military community through animal welfare in order to strategically minimize the disparity between available space in animal shelters and the disproportionate quantity of pets that are left behind due to housing instability and insufficient shelter space. I plan to focus on fostering networking relationships between public, military efforts, and private, nonprofit initiatives through leadership practices that increase positive discourse and flexibility between the two sectors. Through educational programs in a grassroots organization, I plan to engage in creating preventative measures for stabilizing pet populations and establishing outlets for humane animal care.
Moreover, the Organizational Studies major, alongside a Psychology major and Music minor, will provide me with a variety of perspectives and a comprehensive understanding of the way in which people interact within organizations to best affect programmatic change alongside their constituents. I intend to direct my studies in Organizational Studies and Psychology to equip me for this goal and translate the different skills of these programs into tangible social growth.
