EEB Tuesday Seminar Series - mm-Scale Computers for Small Animal Studies
David Blaauw, Kensall D. Wise Collegiate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS)
Seminar Summary - In this talk, we will discuss recent advances in small-scale computing systems that have opened up a range of new application areas. By reducing the power consumption of electronic circuits, the battery and/or energy-harvesting source can be shrunk to sub-millimeter dimensions, allowing the overall system size to shrink as well. We will give a high-level overview of these low-power techniques and then illustrate a number of applications, including small-animal tracking.
