Who can participate?
Highly qualified prospective graduate students interested in applying to our PhD program are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students from low-income homes, students who are first-generation college students, or students whose backgrounds are underrepresented in academia.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents or undocumented students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA).
No cost to Attend
Travel and housing expenses, including meals, are provided for students selected to attend the preview weekend. Slots are limited to 3-6 participants so be sure to apply soon!
Applications must be complete by the deadline. No late materials will be accepted. We strongly encourage you to contact us if you are concerned about the status of your application or completing it on time.
Applicants will be notified by late September if they have been selected to attend.

Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) invites highly qualified prospective graduate students to visit Ann Arbor and preview opportunities for PhD research.
Why apply to attend the MCDB Fall Preview?
During the MCDB preview visit you will have the opportunity to explore the diversity of biological PhD research programs carried out at the University of Michigan. Interact with current students and faculty. Discover how approachable and friendly the MCDB research communities is and experience firsthand what life is like in Ann Arbor—a community consistently voted as one of the top college towns in the US.
MCDB Preview Visit Overview
Throughout the preview visit there will be many opportunities for you to make important connections in the scientific community. Specific events during the Fall Preview will include: research facility tours that will give you a sense of what it is like to be a graduate student at the University of Michigan; time to meet with PhD program representatives; a panel session on what to think about when applying to graduate programs and tips for how to prepare a graduate school application.
MCDB program participants will attend the Annual MCDB Departmental Retreat on the Monday of the visit.
