In addition to a traditional English Major, the department offers two minors for students who wish to pursue a structured course of literary study while majoring in a different field. While the largest numbers of literature students at Michigan go on to pursue careers in law, journalism, business, and the health sciences, there are very few career trajectories that don't benefit from a sound understanding of the workings of narrative, metaphor, and the endless intricacies of human experience.
