Collegiate Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan launched the LSA Collegiate Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in 2016 as a major College initiative aimed at promoting an inclusive scholarly environment, recruiting and retaining exceptional early career scholars, and supporting outstanding scholars who are committed to building a diverse intellectual community.

University of Michigan's President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

In 2011, the University of Michigan joined in a collaborative partnership with the University of California to offer postdoctoral fellowship opportunities at the University of Michigan. In this program, the University of Michigan now offers postdoctoral research fellowships in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), economics, and political science, coupled with faculty mentoring, professional development, and academic networking opportunities.

The University of Michigan views these postdoctoral fellowships as providing an exceptional opportunity to recruit potential new faculty to the University by offering the possibility of either a postdoc alone or a combined postdoc and tenure track faculty appointment.

The University seeks applicants whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education. The program is particularly interested in scholars with the potential to bring to their research and undergraduate teaching the critical perspective that comes from their non-traditional educational background or understanding of the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education.

Science, Technology and Public Policy graduate certificate

The STPP program is devoted to interdisciplinary research and teaching on the politics and processes of science and technology policymaking, through graduate certificate and postdoctoral fellowship programs as well as seminars and conferences.

Science Communication Fellows

Are you a faculty member, graduate student, or post-doc interested in sharing your research with the general public?  Become a Science Communication Fellow!  The U-M Museum of Natural History uses the NSF-supported Portal to the Public guiding framework to bring scientists and public audiences together in face-to-face interactions that promote appreciation and understanding of current scientific research

To become a Fellow, scientists participate in two free professional development workshops focused on building the skills to effectively engage public audiences.  With guidance from Museum program staff, Fellows develop meaningful, inquiry-based and materials-rich table-top activities that showcase their research then share these activities with K-12 students and the public at two or more outreach events.
