The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) together with the Brazil Initiative at LACS feature presenters from diverse disciplines. LACS organizes and sponsors more than 50 public lectures, workshops, performances, and conferences over the course of the academic year.

Professor Javier Sanjinés retired from active faculty status on May 31, 2023, after twenty-six years at the University of Michigan.
This event will celebrate the career of Javier, and will feature a roundtable discussion with Professors Bruce Mannhein (University of Michigan) and Mabel Moraña (Washington University). Event hosted by Enrique García Santo-Tomás.
