In 2005 the Department of Communication Studies along with alumni working in the field of entertainment developed a program for our undergraduate students interested in careers in this field.
The Entertainment Media Career Forum is held annually in the Fall term to bring in UM alumni who are working in the various fields of the entertainment industry to talk to current students about their careers and to give students suggestions for preparation for work in the field. This is a day-long event. The panelists talk about their careers, how they got to where they are, tips for students regarding classes and majors, ideas about internships and thoughts about breaking into the field. This is not an employment recruiting event. It is a career exploration event. We like to bring back about UM alumni each year working in the entertainment field in LA and NY and hopefully other developing entertainment-rich cities.
