Service Status: Active

LSA Technology Services provides a home directory (automatically mounted as H: on Windows) and a group directory (automatically mounted as S: on Windows) to all of its faculty and staff.

  • The H:, or home drive, is intended for storing documents and files that are for your use and do not need to be shared. Only you have access to the files stored in your H: drive.
  • The S:, or shared drive, is intended for storing documents and files that are for the use of you and your team or department and do need to be shared. Depending on how your unit defines permissions, it's possible that everyone in your center, department, group, institute, team, or unit has access to the files stored in your S: drive.

Both the H: and S: drives use ITS' MiStorage (CIFS) behind the scenes, so please refer to that page for more information.

Refer to our knowledgebase if you need to mount either file system manually (such as on Linux or Mac OS, or on Windows if it didn't automatically mount at boot time). Please contact the LSA Technology Services Desk to request a new home or shared drive space or if you cannot mount your home (H:) or shared (S:) drive.

Features

Allows for user- and group-level quotas in 1 GB chunks.

Allows storing most sensitive data types.

Who can use this service?

This service is available to all faculty and staff within the college.

Where can the service be used?

The service can be used on campus and off-campus over the VPN.
