January 3 - Writing Workshop opens

Writing Workshop re-opens on the first day of Winter classes, January 3rd. Hours are 9am-5pm. Writing Workshop is our faculty-led one-to-one writing service that operates out of our offices at 1310 North Quad. Writing Workshop assists undergraduate and graduate writers with academic writing. More information can be found on our Writing Support page.

January 8 - Chat Chat sign-up opens

Would you like to improve your spoken English? Would you like to chat with someone who can answer your questions about life at U-M and in the U.S.? Would you like an opportunity to talk informally with U.S. students and students from other countries? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, consider joining a Chat Cafe.

These casual conversation groups are led by our Sweetland-trained undergraduate Chat Cafe Leaders. Each group includes up to 6 undergraduate multilingual students and a leader. Groups meet once a week at different locations on campus.

The Winter 2018 Chat Cafe signup officially opens Monday, January 8th. Sign up our Chat Cafe email list to receive a reminder when the sign up opens. Groups begin meeting the following week beginning Tuesday, January 16th.

January 18 - Coffee & Donut Break

Our Peer Writing Center hosts the Sweetland Coffee & Donut Break from 9:30am-noon on Thursday, January 18th in Angell Hall G219. Stop by for some sugary goodness and learn more about the Peer Writing Center and all of the services we provide to help you with your writing. If you've never used our services before, our Peer Writing Consultants can guide you through the online reservation process to help make your first visit a breeze.

January 21 - Peer Writing Centers & OWL open

Sweetland's Peer Writing Center and satellite locations open campus-wide on Sunday, January 21st. Undergraduate students from any major, at any stage of the writing process can get one-to-one help any of the locations below. If you can't make it in-person to one of our Peer Writing Centers, you can connect to a Sweetland Peer Writing Consultant online using our OWL system.
