Why are internships important?
Internships are short-term, professional development opportunities that enable students to:
explore careers of interest
develop specific skills
apply their liberal arts education in a workplace setting
build professional networks
obtain professional references and job leads
81.1 percent of college graduates reported that internships helped them shift their career directions by changing the focus of classes or majors (State of Millennial Hiring Report, 2016).
Liberal Arts students who participate in internships are more likely to be employed within six months following graduation compared to their peers who don’t participate in internships (The Impact of Undergraduate Internships on Post-Graduate Outcomes for the Liberal Arts, 2017).
