After the Cold War ended, democracy seemed to become the predominant form of government and civil war seemed to become the predominant form of warfare worldwide. Now, international warfare and authoritarian regimes seem to be making major simultaneous comebacks. This roundtable considers whether these comebacks are real or illusory, and if the relationships between types of political regimes and types of political violence are truly shifting.
