In recent times, Alicante has experienced a development boom and rapid population growth. Although fast becoming a cosmopolitan and multicultural city, it retains a distinct Spanish flavor. With sites like Alicante’s spectacular beaches and the ancient fortress of Castillo de Santa Bárbara, students will find themselves captivated by the various attractions around the city. On this exciting program in Alicante, students will have an opportunity to complete their final semester of Spanish on this 5-week, 6-credit intensive program. Students receive 4 credits of Spanish 232, and 2 credits in an intercultural development course taught by a local University of Alicante instructor. Through their local course, students will navigate conversations about local and global current events through a Spanish cultural lens. Students will also embark on a day trip to Valencia, home to the City of Arts and Sciences, a cultural and architectural complex. The program is taught and led by U-M Professor Maria Dorantes.

THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT BE OFFERED IN SPRING/SUMMER 2023.
