This hybrid program allows students to combine the dedicated support of studying at a local study center with the immersion of studying alongside local Barcelona students. Students will take morning classes at the Barcelona SIS Study Center, and afternoon classes at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Established in 1990, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) is one of Barcelona’s newest institutions and has already earned an International Excellence Campus label from the Spanish Ministry of Education. In 2019, UPF was voted the best university in Spain. Michigan students who study for a semester at SIS/UPF are required to take 3-4 courses in a variety of subjects plus a 3-credit language course at their level. Note: This program is not approved for Spanish majors or minors. The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures will not grant any credit towards a Spanish major/minor or fulfill Spanish language requirements.
