Photo submitted by Anthony Trumbull.
  • City: Nyon & Geneva, Switzerland; Athens, Greece
  • Term: Fall, Winter
  • Instruction in: English
  • Students interested in: Economics, International Studies, Political Science

With Nyon as the homebase for lectures and living and Geneva as the main location for field studies, students get to experience both cities extensively. Geneva is a hub for many international organizations and serves as a global financial center. The environment of Geneva offers an opportunity to meet experts and academics at international organizations, banks, financial institutions, and Swiss NGOs.

This program addresses causes of the unstable global economy, alternative systems of intermediation, and the implications of financial crises on economies. Study alternative financial systems and sustainable finance through a social justice lens via an experiential, case study approach.

There will also be a 3 week excursion to Greece. The excursion allows you to experience Greek culture, history, and cuisine while examining the impact of the recent economic crisis on the country’s financial system and society. While there, you’ll visit Crete, the largest of the Greek islands.

Note: French courses offered within this program cannot be used to meet the LSA language requirement for French.
